  • According to the forecast of the National Immigration Administration (NIA), during the International Labor Day holiday in 2019, nationwide ports will usher in a "small peak" of exit-entry passenger flow, with the average daily number of exit-entry passengers reaching 2,200,000, up by 5.9 percent year-on-year. In particular, the exit-entry passenger flow will see a significant increase at Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and other large international airports, with an estimated daily average of 79,000, 107,000, 54,000 and 21,000 passengers, respectively, up by 4.1 percent, 3 percent, 18 percent and 32 percent year-on-year. Mainland residents traveling to Hong Kong and Macao via land ports adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao will become a new drive of the growth of exit-entry passenger flow. It is estimated that the average daily number of people leaving and entering the ports of Gongbei, Luohu, Futian, Huanggang, West Kowloon Station and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will reach 435,000, 257,000, 210,000, 110,000, 94,000 and 105,000, respectively.

NIA has instructed nationwide frontier inspection authorities to strictly implement specified work requirements, which refer to publishing transportation information on traffic congestion and black spots, and reminding the public of traffic safety precautions in holidays. Frontier inspection authorities shall conduct scientific predict and release their exit-entry passenger flow data in a timely manner, while arranging sufficient police force on duty, organizing services scientifically, and actively guiding the vast number of exit-entry passengers to travel safely and orderly.

In particular, the frontier inspection authorities of the ports adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao should enhance communication and coordination with relevant authorities of Hong Kong and Macao to inform the changes of passenger flow in a timely fashion and closely cooperate to provide sound support for the customs clearance services at the ports.

NIA reminds exit-entry passengers to carefully check their exit-entry documents and those of their companions before traveling, and pay attention to the conditions of port passenger traffic and customs clearance of the ports, and try to avoid traveling during peak hours. In case of difficulties in customs clearance, passengers can seek help from the police officers on duty at any time.
